LiDAR mapping for a 160-acre earthworks site in Chippawa

Stratus Geomatics carried out a LiDAR topographic survey of ongoing earthworks in Chippawa, Ontario. The work provided surface information for the client’s assessment of fill quantities across the site.

Survey references and checks

The project used control points supplied by an Ontario Land Surveyor, base and rover equipment, ground control targets and check shots. These references supported site localization and checking of the survey data.

Interpreting the delivered surface

Volume results depend on the agreed survey boundary, date and base or comparison surface. The required accuracy, deliverables and schedule should be agreed for each project; neither the equipment specification nor a turnaround on another site guarantees the same outcome.
