ToggleLiDAR and GPS surveying for a Vaughan construction site
The site near Jane Street and Highway 7 contained irregular gravel and topsoil piles. Stratus combined LiDAR and GPS topographic work to record the exposed site surface and support the client’s pre-construction planning.
Why the survey scope changed
The initial work focused on a GPS as-built survey around a planned parking area. The extent and shape of the material piles called for additional surface coverage, so LiDAR was incorporated into the survey.
Surface information and quantity assumptions
The survey supported terrain and surface modelling. Quantity calculations depend on the measured coverage, pile boundaries and the agreed base or comparison surface. LiDAR records visible surfaces; it does not establish underground utility locations or identify the composition of material from geometry alone.
Required accuracy, checks and deliverables should be agreed for each site. The schedule depends on access, conditions, coverage and processing requirements.
